Why knowing a little about a lot is a superpower.
kothanur · opening 1 december 2026
Ondo is a café on Doddagubbi Main Road where neighbours meet, learn something and make things together. The coffee is good. The people are the point.
the sign on our wall
Our mark is a terracotta jaali, the screen you find in old Bangalore houses. We cut what Ondo is for into its blocks, with a cup of coffee in the middle holding it together.
A long table where neighbours end up talking. Bring a friend, leave with two.
Curious Saturdays, a shelf of books to borrow, and people who like questions.
Weekday mornings for small people and their grown-ups, and a nook for slow starts.
Open from 9 am. No rush, no one clearing your table to turn it.
Espresso made properly, cakes from local bakers. The excuse to come in.
what's on
Saturdays · about 20 seats · ₹299 with a drink
One talk or hands-on session every Saturday, small enough to ask questions. The first four start in January.
Why knowing a little about a lot is a superpower.
A small toolkit for thinking clearly about big decisions.
How we pick things up, and why we forget them.
Reading slowly, on purpose, with a pencil.
Dates go to the neighbours' list first, a week ahead.
teach something
We host the first four Saturdays. After that, the neighbours do. Pottery, birding, a language, budgeting, bread, code, a song: if you know it and like sharing it, there's a table and twenty curious people.
We handle the room, the coffee and the tickets. You bring what you know.

families
Weekday mornings are for parents, grandparents and little ones: a corner to play, books at their height, and Little Makers sessions. Step-free from the pavement, with an accessible restroom.
We're thinking about a weekday-morning play-group. If you'd come, tell us; it decides whether we start one.
I'd come to a play-groupthe room
Thirty seats, a long table, a book wall and a baithak that becomes a stage. Stay for an hour or the afternoon; work is welcome on weekdays, and the house rules are on the wall.

Design renders, not photos. The room is being built now.
Once Ondo has paid back what it cost to build, a tenth of every year's profit goes to supporting the underprivileged. We'll publish what we gave, and to whom, here and on the wall.
